WOW August was a busy month, hence no update. I was busy in pre-production for a local TV Show called Good Business. Am the co-host, so very excited. It will be great to share it with you (even if you don't live in Brisbane, Australia) because they will be launching a website, so you will be able to view footage from the show after it has aired here in Australia. The benefit to you is that it's aimed at small business owners and will offer hints, tips and information from other successful business owners and industry experts. Of course there was nervous excitement for the first episode and yes I may have looked a bit like a kangaroo in the headlights at times, but am sure that will improve as I get more comfortable in the role! Great team on the show - students from the local University USQ studying Film/TV/Media. They have been working so very hard and it's a credit to them. Here is a photo of me on set interviewing my own acting coach Gareth Harris for the episode on 'The business side of showbusiness'. We had lots of fun on set! 18 July 2011 - Thought and question for today "Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week's value out of a year while another man gets a full year's value out of a week. Charles Richards Time management tip: Where possible, complete your highest value tasks when you are in your most productive mood. It could be that you function best in the morning - so schedule those tasks for then and leave less important, lower value tasks for the afternoon. Sounds simple, but it's very effective. 5 July 2011 - Thought and question for today "In the end, all business operations can be reduced to three words: people, product and profits. Unless you've got a good team, you can't do much with the other two." Lee Lacocca What are you doing to ensure your team is happy and productive? Do you engage with them, treat them well, reward them (not just money), encourage them and make them feel like they are making a valued contribution? When your team is happy, they are more likely to give better service to you and especially to your customers. 18 May 2011 - Thought and question for today "Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." - Henry FordDo you see failure as something bad, something to defeat you? Or do you see it as an opportunity for learning and growth. Your attitude to it makes a big difference in what you attract, how you act and ultimately the outcome for your business.
